Case Study

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

THE CHALLENGE

Premier have a long-standing relationship with Peterhouse which started in 2012 with the supply of managed IT services.

In 2018, Peterhouse approached Premier to discuss their business continuity plan. At the time their setup was an on-premise server with cloud data backup. Their existing plan would not have given them the flexibility to be back online within an acceptable amount of time (under 48 hours).

PROJECT SCOPE

Premier recommended migration to SharePoint as this offered multiple benefits and improvements to the current setup. For Peterhouse the main advantages of SharePoint included:

  • Disaster recovery
  • Zero Downtime
  • Remote Access
  • Flexible Working across PC, mobile and tablet
  • Additional security benefits

THE WORK

MIGRATION

The migration to SharePoint took place on site over a weekend by their dedicated project manager and his team. All shared data was migrated to individual Team Sites with specific users’ permissions and access, as well as user specific data being migrated to OneDrive for Business. All users were configured, and data migrated to ensure that there was no downtime and very limited disruption on the Monday morning.

IMPLEMENTING

Alongside SharePoint, cloud to cloud backup was also setup to ensure that Peterhouse data was fully protected in the event of data deletion or corruption, for an unlimited retention period. For additional security multi-factor authentication was set up for all users.

THE RESULTS

One of the main benefits for Peterhouse was the peace of mind that an efficient and robust business continuity plan was in place.

Remote access has allowed more flexible working and staff members can now access their files on-demand on any devices.

Multi-factor authentication and cloud to cloud backup have improved network security and have helped towards GDPR compliance. As a Cyber Security certified firm, data security is very important for Peterhouse.

TESTIMONIAL

“We have enjoyed a great relationship with Premier Choice, more recently with Peterhouse, but also with a company that Peter and I founded in 2004, called London Bridge Capital. The service that we received then was second to none, which prompted me to call Premier Choice when Peterhouse was formed. Imagine my surprise when Ben Turner answered my call! Goes to show what a good company Premier Choice is, retaining customers and staff long-term and still providing a great service. ”
